Mayor Zohran Mamdani Faces Scrutiny Over Qatar Media Ties

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is facing scrutiny over his ties to Uncivilized Media, a Qatar-based outlet that the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) accuses of spreading antisemitic conspiracy theories. The controversy stems from 2023 interview clips and collaborative Instagram posts that resurfaced after Mamdani's 2025 primary victory.

Oren Segal of the ADL stated that while the specific interviews with Mamdani did not focus on conspiracies, appearing on the platform serves to normalize its other content. The ADL has called for the mayor to publicly denounce the outlet's antisemitic tropes to reassure Jewish residents of New York City.

The pressure on the mayor intensified following a recent video in which Mamdani described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a "war criminal" and the "architect of a horrific genocide against the Palestinian people." Neither the mayor's office nor Uncivilized Media has provided a comment on the matter.
