Pakistani Forces Accused of Killing and Disappearing Baloch Civilians
Human rights groups accuse Pakistani security forces of extrajudicial killings and the forced disappearance of several civilians, including a teenager, in Balochistan.
Human rights organizations report a surge in extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances carried out by the Government of Pakistan and its security forces in Balochistan. Recent reports detail the recovery of two bodies: Adeel Baloch, found on October 23 in the Kech district after a raid in Kohar Bazaar, and 24-year-old Baba Baloch, whose mutilated body was discovered on October 14 in the Panjgur district following a 17-day disappearance.
Violence in the region has continued with the recent abduction of three more civilians in the Kech district. These include 16-year-old student Shamsher Ahmed, taken at gunpoint from his home in Turbat, and a man named Hanif in Sorag. A third individual, Akram, disappeared after visiting a Frontier Corps camp to provide identity documents for missing relatives.
The Baloch Voice for Justice and the Baloch Yakjehti Committee characterize these actions as a pattern of collective punishment and genocidal acts targeting Baloch youth. Both organizations have demanded independent, impartial investigations and international accountability for the Pakistani state.
