Reid Hoffman Donates $8 Million to Wisconsin Democrats

Billionaire Reid Hoffman donated $8 million to the Democratic Party of Wisconsin amid a surge of late-cycle spending by wealthy donors in key battleground states.

Billionaire venture capitalist Reid Hoffman donated $8 million to the Democratic Party of Wisconsin over a five-week period to support gubernatorial nominee David Crowley against Republican Tom Tiffany. This contribution is part of a broader wave of late-cycle spending by wealthy donors, including Michael Bloomberg, who gave $750,000 to Texas nominee Gina Hinojosa, and Elon Musk, who provided $2 million to the conservative Judicial Fairness PAC in Texas.

Simultaneously, the House Majority PAC spent $8.4 million on advertisements targeting Republican House candidates in Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. These ads focus on the candidates' ties to Jeffrey Epstein or their records regarding the release of Epstein-related government files.

The Republican National Committee accused Democrats of hypocrisy for accepting funds from Hoffman while using Epstein to attack GOP candidates. The committee noted that Hoffman admitted to meeting Epstein after the financier's 2008 conviction. Hoffman expressed regret for those interactions, stating that by participating in fundraising activities where Epstein was present, he helped "repair his reputation and perpetuate injustice."
