Israeli Airlines Suspend Flights to Morocco Over Security Concerns
Arkia and Israir have suspended flights to Morocco following new Israeli aviation security directives issued after a September attack on a flydubai flight.
Israeli airlines Arkia and Israir have frozen ticket sales and suspended flights to Morocco in response to new aviation security directives. The Cabinet of Israel issued these measures following a September 30 attack on a flydubai flight bound for Tel Aviv.
Israir suspended its Tel Aviv-Marrakesh route last week, and Arkia followed suit on October 21, halting sales until further notice. The suspensions disrupt recent efforts to expand aviation links between the two nations, occurring just one month after Israel and Morocco agreed to upgrade diplomatic relations through the opening of embassies and the appointment of ambassadors.
Arkia is currently evaluating the future of the route and exploring alternatives, such as using commercial partners or leased aircraft, if the Israeli government permanently halts flights to Morocco.
