Republicans Nathan Wesenberg and Mark Striemer Win Minnesota Primaries

Republican candidates Nathan Wesenberg and Mark Striemer won their respective primary elections in Minnesota's District 10 on Tuesday, August 11. Wesenberg, the incumbent senator for Senate District 10, secured 74.21% of the vote with 9,070 ballots to defeat opponent Deb Holthaus, who received 25% with 3,152 votes. Wesenberg campaigned on smaller government, spending restraint, and nursing home care.

In the race for the open House District 10A seat, Mark Striemer won with 57.19% of the vote, defeating Brian Lindquist. Striemer focused his platform on election security, government accountability, and the removal of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Both candidates will advance to the general election on November 3. Wesenberg will face Democratic-Farmer-Laborer candidate Tara Killen, while Striemer will face DFL candidate Melissa Maertens. Senate District 10 encompasses Mille Lacs, Aikin, and Morrison counties, along with portions of Benton County.

Results provided by the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State remain unofficial. The Minnesota State Canvassing Board is scheduled to meet on August 18 to certify the final outcomes.
