BMW Debuts Long-Wheelbase Neue Klasse i3 in China
BMW Group unveiled the interior of the China-made long-wheelbase Neue Klasse i3 at the Chengdu Auto Show, with production starting in January 2027.
BMW Group debuted the interior of the China-made long-wheelbase Neue Klasse i3 at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 21, 2026. The vehicle is built on a dedicated 800V high-voltage platform featuring a sixth-generation eDrive system and a wheelbase exceeding 3 meters.
The lineup consists of four trims, led by the flagship i3 M60L xDrive which delivers up to 630 horsepower. The launch edition includes a 108 kWh battery providing a range of 906km, while the standard version may reach 912km. Inside, the car features a Panoramic iDrive+ Intelligent Cockpit with a 43.3-inch horizon panoramic display and a 17.9-inch central screen.
This reveal follows the start of mass production for the standard Neue Klasse i3 in Munich on August 6, with European deliveries scheduled for September. The Chinese long-wheelbase version will begin domestic production at the Shenyang plant in January 2027.
