A1 Sports World CEO Bans Men From Four Indian States

The founder and CEO of Bengaluru-based Karthik SG announced a policy to stop hiring male candidates from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. The decision follows the dismissal of a 24-year-old MBA graduate who allegedly behaved abusively toward female colleagues and attempted to force himself on a coworker despite receiving two warnings.

Karthik SG justified the ban by citing the safety of his 32 employees and the children served by the company's sports programs. He argued that traditional background checks are ineffective and questioned whether men with a misogynistic mindset should be employed near women and children. He stated the policy was reached after a lengthy discussion and quarrel.

The announcement sparked a polarized debate on X. Critics labeled the move as bigoted, unprofessional, and a form of regional racism, arguing that recruitment should be based on individual competence rather than regional origin. Some users also questioned if a formal police report had been filed against the former employee. Karthik SG defended the decision, asserting that as the business owner, he sets the rules for his company.
