The T3 Financial Crime Unit has dissolved after freezing $250 million in illicit cryptocurrency assets through collaborations with global law enforcement.
The T3 Financial Crime Unit, a collaborative alliance formed to combat illicit activity in the cryptocurrency industry, has dissolved. Established in September 2024, the group was co-founded by the organization behind the Tron blockchain, stablecoin issuer Tether, and analytics firm TRM Labs, with digital assets exchange Binance joining the initiative at a later date.
Before its shutdown, the unit reported freezing $250 million in illicit assets globally. These results were achieved through direct cooperation with various law enforcement agencies. The dissolution comes at a time when crime involving digital assets continues to increase.
