Apple App Store Developer Billings Top $1.4 Trillion in 2025
Apple reported that its App Store ecosystem facilitated over $1.4 trillion in developer billings and sales in 2025, driven by growth in AI-focused apps.
Apple Inc. announced that its App Store ecosystem facilitated more than $1.4 trillion in developer billings and sales in 2025, rising from $1.3 trillion the previous year. A study by Analysis Group commissioned by the company found that over 90% of these transactions occurred without Apple collecting a commission.
Total billings included $1.1 trillion from physical goods and services, $149 billion from digital goods and services, and $151 billion from in-app advertising. China emerged as the leading market with $562 billion in spending, followed by the United States at $453 billion, Europe at $184 billion, and Japan at $52 billion. The platform averaged 850 million weekly users across 175 countries.
Artificial intelligence significantly impacted growth, with billings from AI-focused apps increasing fourfold. Approximately 40 of the top 100 apps now feature consumer-facing AI capabilities utilizing tools from Anthropic, Stability AI, Midjourney, and Apple's own technology. These AI-integrated apps experienced stronger billing growth than their peers. The announcement precedes the Worldwide Developers Conference on June 8, where the company is expected to debut AI-powered updates to Siri.
