Firmus Technologies and Nvidia to Build AI Factory in Indonesia

Firmus Technologies is partnering with Nvidia and DayOne to construct a 360-megawatt AI compute hub in Batam, Indonesia, featuring 170,000 AI accelerators.

Firmus Technologies, an Australian AI infrastructure company, has entered a strategic partnership with Nvidia Corp and Singapore-based DayOne to construct a massive AI campus in Batam, Indonesia. Known as the AI Factory Batam campus, the 360-megawatt facility will house up to 170,000 Nvidia AI accelerator chips. The project integrates Nvidia's DSX platform with the proprietary liquid-cooled HyperCube architecture developed by Firmus.

Under the agreement, which runs through 2034, Nvidia will supply the hardware and receive a share of the revenue generated by the cloud services Firmus provides to enterprise and AI-native customers. This revenue-sharing and credit-support structure allows Firmus to deploy infrastructure without requiring upfront purchases. Installations are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027 and continue through early 2028. Firmus expects the partnership to generate between $25 billion and $30 billion in revenue via committed offtake agreements over the first six years.

Firmus recently reached a post-money valuation of $5.5 billion after raising $1.35 billion, with a $505 million round led by Coatue Management. The company, which transitioned from a Bitcoin mining operation, is reportedly preparing for a potential initial public offering. The Batam facility leverages the island's proximity to Singapore to establish the region as a global AI compute hub, aimed at lowering the cost of computing power for emerging AI firms.
