Pakistani Forces Kill Seven Protesters in Rawalakot

Pakistani security forces allegedly killed at least seven people, including four children, and injured 18 others during attacks on peaceful protesters in Rawalakot, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, on November 5, 2026. The United Kashmir People's National Party reported that security forces deployed heavy machine guns, armored vehicles, and drones to target sit-ins at the Matialmera Bus Terminal and Umar Farooq Chowk.
Among the deceased were Atif Jardees, Ehtisham Younis, and Adil Rashid. Reports indicate that a drone strike caused the destruction of one residential home by fire. The United Kashmir People's National Party has called for independent investigations by the United Nations and the European Union into the killings and alleged human rights violations.
This violence occurs amid growing international scrutiny of the Pakistani government's designation of the Joint Awami Action Committee as a terrorist organization. United Nations Special Rapporteurs have expressed concern that this designation may be a retaliatory measure against the group's political, labor, and human rights advocacy rather than a move consistent with international terrorist listing standards.
