Nintendo Adds Super Mario Sunshine and Virtual Boy Games to Service

Nintendo announced the August release of Super Mario Sunshine for Nintendo Switch 2 and two previously unreleased Virtual Boy titles for all Switch subscribers.

Nintendo Inc. announced the addition of three titles to its Nintendo Switch Online subscription service for August 2026. On August 4, the company will release two previously unreleased Virtual Boy games, Zero Racers and D-Hopper, which were fully completed but never officially released for the original console. These titles will be available to subscribers of both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 across both subscription tiers. A Virtual Boy app update on the same day will introduce screen color customization.

On August 13, the GameCube title Super Mario Sunshine will be added to the Expansion Pack tier for owners of the Nintendo Switch 2. This release follows a series of GameCube classics launched since April 2025, such as Luigi's Mansion and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. The upcoming version of Super Mario Sunshine will support analog trigger controls via the Switch Online GameCube controller or an original controller with an adapter.

Reports on the presentation of Super Mario Sunshine vary. One account indicates the game will appear in a 4:3 aspect ratio and lack improvements from the Super Mario 3D All-Stars release, while another suggests the version will be more accurate to the original 2002 release than the 2020 collection.
