Indian Equity Markets Open Flat Amid Strong Q1 Earnings

Indian equity markets opened largely flat on Monday as strong first-quarter corporate earnings and foreign investment offset key resistance levels.

Indian equity markets opened with minimal gains on Monday, August 10, 2026. The BSE Sensex rose 0.05 percent to 78,539.11 points, while the NSE Nifty 50 increased 0.03 percent to 24,578.35 points.

VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist of Geojit Investments Limited, attributed the mildly bullish sentiment to better-than-expected first-quarter corporate earnings, resilient domestic demand, and consistent buying from foreign institutional investors. This stability aligns with positive trends in U.S. markets and other Asian indices, including Japan's Nikkei 225 and Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted index.

Despite the positive undertone, technical analysts suggest a sustained rally depends on breaking specific thresholds. Shrikant Chouhan of Kotak Securities noted that while the short-term outlook is positive, a fresh uptrend requires the indices to cross key resistance levels.
