Crete Police Chief Gary Young to be Honored in Funeral Procession

Officials have released the funeral and procession schedule for Donald Gary Young, the Police Chief of Crete, Nebraska, who died on July 27. Young served the Crete Police Department for 41 years and had held the position of chief since 2022.

The funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday, August 3, at Ag Hall at Tuxedo Park in Crete. Following the service, a procession will depart Crete around 11 a.m., traveling east to Highway 77 and north toward the Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Lincoln.

To ensure the safety and flow of the event, the Nebraska State Patrol will provide aerial monitoring of the procession. The Lincoln Police Department will manage traffic control at major intersections throughout the route to the cemetery.
