Trump Administration Investigates Activists for Cuban Regime Coordination

The Trump administration has launched federal investigations into activist networks and nonprofit organizations accused of coordinating with the communist regime in Cuba. These probes follow U.S. murder charges brought against former Cuban leader Raúl Castro, with officials examining whether various groups collaborated with Cuban authorities on political organizing, messaging, and fundraising.

Federal investigators are specifically scrutinizing potential violations of sanctions regulations enforced by the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, as well as potential failures to register under foreign agent laws. As part of this effort, federal officials have reportedly issued subpoenas to progressive commentator Hasan Piker and CodePink co-founder Medea Benjamin regarding their trips to Cuba.

Concurrent with these investigations, legal strategist Mehek Cooke has called for congressional probes into the Southern Poverty Law Center. The scrutiny focuses on the organization's use of approximately $2.5 million in National Institutes of Health grants for educational programming. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan has been urged to examine the vetting process for federal funds allocated to the organization.
