IED Blast Kills One Assam Rifles Jawan in Nagaland

An improvised explosive device targeted an Assam Rifles convoy in Nagaland on Monday, killing one jawan and injuring four others.

An improvised explosive device exploded Monday afternoon near Sukhovi in Nagaland's Chumoukedima district, killing one Assam Rifles jawan and injuring four others. The blast targeted a vehicle within a convoy traveling toward a training center. Following the explosion, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to locate the perpetrators.

Investigators are currently examining whether the device was remotely detonated. This incident follows a July 6 ambush in Manipur's Ukhrul district that killed two personnel, marking the second major attack on the paramilitary force in the Northeast within a week.

While authorities have not officially confirmed who was responsible for the Nagaland blast, the National Socialist Council of Nagalim-Isak-Muivah had previously denied involvement in the Manipur attack, citing its commitment to the ceasefire agreement with the Government of India.
