Kalshi Exchange Reports 98 Percent Accuracy in Midterm Predictions

Kalshi Exchange achieved over 98 percent accuracy in 2026 midterm election forecasts, often identifying winners faster than traditional news outlets and polling organizations.

The prediction platform Kalshi Exchange reported over 98 percent accuracy across the 2026 midterm election races. Head of Research Nicole Kagan stated that traders on the platform rapidly repriced contests, including the South Carolina senate race, within minutes of polls closing and frequently before traditional news outlets called the results.

In Ohio, the platform demonstrated a capacity for early identification of victors compared to traditional forecasting. In the 7th Congressional District race, Kalshi Exchange shifted its favor toward Democrat Brian Poindexter in late July following media coverage of domestic violence allegations against incumbent Republican Max Miller. In contrast, Decision Desk HQ did not favor Poindexter until late October. The platform also showed higher confidence in Democratic candidate Sherrod Brown's U.S. Senate victory than Decision Desk HQ.

For the Ohio gubernatorial race, Kalshi Exchange and Decision Desk HQ both closely mirrored each other in favoring Democrat Dr. Amy Acton over Republican Vivek Ramaswamy. The growing influence of these platforms is highlighted by a massive surge in prediction market volume, which rose from $26 million in May to $53 billion in July. Kagan noted that institutional investors are increasingly integrating the platform's probability and price discovery components into professional workflows.
