Jet2holidays Cancels Package After Couple Misses Outbound Flight
Jet2holidays voided a couple's all-inclusive holiday after they missed their flight to Malaga, forcing them to pay over £1,500 for alternative arrangements.
Travel company Jet2holidays cancelled the entire package holiday of Karen Cassidy and George Gale after they missed their outbound flight to Malaga on August 14. The couple slept through their alarms and independently booked a new flight for that afternoon, but discovered upon arriving at their hotel at midnight that their £1,100 all-inclusive booking had been voided at 3:00 p.m.
Cassidy shared the experience on TikTok to warn other travelers, claiming the company's no-show policy is unclear. The cancellation forced the couple to spend over £1,500 on alternative travel and accommodation, increasing the total cost of the trip to more than £2,600. Cassidy stated she was told there was nothing the company could do to reinstate the booking.
Jet2holidays defended the action, stating that its terms and conditions mandate the cancellation of all travel arrangements, including accommodation and inbound flights, if a customer misses their outbound flight without notifying the company of plans to travel independently. While a spokesperson expressed regret over the experience, the company maintained the cancellation was in line with booking terms.
