Oman Public Revenues Rise 13 Percent in First Half 2026
Oman's public revenues grew to 6.6 billion rials by the second quarter of 2026, driven by surges in oil and gas earnings.
Public revenues in Oman rose 13 percent to approximately 6.602 billion Omani rials ($17.17 billion) by the end of the second quarter of 2026, according to a Fiscal Performance Bulletin from the Ministry of Finance. This growth was primarily driven by a 10 percent increase in net oil revenues, which reached 3.332 billion rials, and a 32 percent surge in net gas revenues to 1.164 billion rials. During this period, daily oil production averaged 1.074 million barrels with an average price of $74 per barrel.
Total public expenditure increased 9 percent to 6.619 billion rials, reflecting higher current and development spending. Development expenditures totaled 798 million rials, including 146 million rials dedicated to economic transformation projects. Total public debt saw a marginal increase of 0.3 percent, reaching 14.16 billion rials. The Ministry of Finance also reported paying over 915 million rials to the private sector for documented dues, maintaining an average settlement period of five working days.
While the state reports fiscal growth, the International Monetary Fund noted that Oman lags behind the average pace of the Gulf Cooperation Council in economic diversification. The IMF characterized the 11th Five-Year Development Plan for 2026-2030 as critical for strengthening the nation's economic resilience.
