Kinder Morgan Approves $4.7 Billion for Natural Gas Pipelines
Kinder Morgan is investing $4.7 billion in two major pipeline projects to supply natural gas to data centers, power plants, and LNG exporters.
Kinder Morgan approved $4.7 billion in investments for two natural gas pipeline joint ventures to address increasing demand from power plants, LNG exporters, and data centers. The investment includes $3.1 billion for the Southeast Connector project, managed by Southern Natural Gas, which will transport up to 2.6 billion cubic feet of gas per day across 470 miles to the US Southeast.
An additional $1.6 billion will fund the Permian Link project through the Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America. This pipeline will move 2.8 billion cubic feet per day from the Permian Basin in Texas to the Midcontinent system, specifically targeting power providers for a hyperscale data-center customer.
These approvals bring the company's total project backlog to $14.4 billion, with natural gas projects alone reaching a record $13.2 billion. The Permian Link is scheduled to enter service in the third quarter of 2030, while the Southeast Connector will begin phased service in the fourth quarter of 2030.
