Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky Integrates AI Into 60% of Code
Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky announced that AI now writes 60% of the company's new code to accelerate product development and automate customer service.
Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky announced that artificial intelligence now writes 60% of the company's new code, a shift that has reduced the time from concept to launch by up to 60%. During an August 6 earnings call, Chesky reported that an AI-powered customer service tool currently resolves 45% of user inquiries without human intervention.
To transition into an AI-native company, Airbnb plans to increase spending on AI tokens and test AI-driven processes for search, sign-up, and payments. Chesky is also launching a dedicated AI lab to develop consumer AI platforms and chatbot technology for vacation planning, which he expects could debut within 18 months.
Chesky attributes these advancements to founder mode, a leadership philosophy that prioritizes startup-like agility and attention to detail over traditional corporate management structures.
