Georgia Secretary of State Defends 2026 Midterm Election Integrity

Brad Raffensperger asserts Georgia voters can trust midterm results, citing record early turnout and rigorous citizenship audits.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger asserted that voters can trust the results of the 2026 midterm elections, citing record early voting turnout and rigorous security measures. Speaking two weeks before the election, Raffensperger highlighted the use of photo ID for all voting methods and three citizenship audits of voter lists to ensure only eligible residents participate.

Over 900,000 people have already voted early, a figure approximately 11% higher than in the 2022 cycle. Due to this high volume of early ballots, Raffensperger expects results to be available by midnight on election night.

Addressing modern threats, Raffensperger identified subtle AI-generated deepfakes targeting election officials as a primary concern. He also noted an ongoing FBI investigation into the Fulton County elections hub stemming from January, though he expressed doubt that any wrongdoing would be found. Meanwhile, the United States Department of Justice plans to deploy approximately 1,000 election monitors to polling places nationwide.
