Indian Officials Lead Nationwide Tiranga Rallies for Independence Day

Indian government officials and ministers led a series of nationwide Tiranga rallies on August 14, 2026, as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. The events preceded the celebration of India's Independence Day, with the 2026 campaign focusing on the theme Tiranga Salute to the Spirit of Vande Mataram.

Jitendra Singh, a Union Minister, led a rally in a border village in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, where he discussed infrastructure improvements at the international border and noted that the government recently granted Vande Mataram the status of national anthem. Simultaneously, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw led a rally at Rail Bhawan in New Delhi. The Ministry of Railways paired these celebrations with the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, hosting a quiz, cultural programs, and a mass singing event.

In Gujarat, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi led a procession in Anand and Vallabh Vidyanagar that drew over 10,000 participants, including students and police personnel. The Government of Gujarat reported that more than 1,200 such yatras received permission across the state. The nationwide initiative also included concerts and a Selfie with Tiranga campaign to encourage citizens to hoist the national flag at their residences.
