WTSL Investment Values Unwell Network at $500 Million
WTSL has made a strategic investment in The Unwell Network, valuing the Gen Z-focused media company at $500 million to accelerate growth and acquisitions.
The Unwell Network secured its first outside investment from WTSL, an investment firm led by Patrick Whitesell, valuing the media company at $500 million. Co-founded by podcaster Alex Cooper and Matt Kaplan, the company intends to use the growth capital to expand its lifestyle and video businesses and pursue strategic acquisitions.
Unwell operates a network of more than a dozen podcasts, including the flagship Call Her Daddy, and produces content for streaming platforms including Disney+, Hulu, and Netflix. The company has been profitable since its 2023 launch and is supported by a $125 million partnership with SiriusXM.
The investment comes amid reports from Bloomberg and Vanity Fair alleging a toxic workplace culture and hostile behavior by Kaplan. Cooper has dismissed these claims as a "smear campaign," asserting that the company maintains a positive internal environment.
