Bristol Airport Prepares for 1.8 Million Summer Passengers

Bristol Airport expects to process approximately 1.8 million passengers during the summer school holidays, with peak travel windows forecast for July 25–28 and August 21–24. To manage the surge, the operator increased its workforce to approximately 5,800 employees across engineering, firefighting, and other sectors.

Security regulations have been updated to streamline processing, most notably replacing the 100ml liquid limit. Passengers may now carry up to 2 litres of liquids in cabin baggage without using clear plastic bags. Additionally, children aged 8 and older who are at least 120cm tall may use UK eGates if they possess a biometric passport from an eligible country.

The airport is currently executing a £400 million transformation programme, which includes a £60 million investment to upgrade arrivals and departures areas. This work introduces 17 new retail and dining units and an expanded assisted travel lounge. New routes have also been launched to Seville, Reus, Bari, Cape Verde, and Thessaloniki, while top destinations include Palma, Alicante, Malaga, and Faro.

Officials recommend that travelers arrive at the terminal at least two hours before departure. Passengers are advised to keep vapes and power banks in cabin bags rather than checked luggage.
