Samsung Launches Galaxy Z Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra Foldables

Samsung Electronics launched its latest foldable lineup globally on August 7, 2026, across 106 markets. The series is headlined by the Galaxy Z Fold8 and the new premium Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Watch9, and Galaxy Watch Ultra2. All devices run Android 17 with One UI 9 and utilize the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the first Ultra-branded foldable, featuring an 8-inch internal AMOLED display, a 200MP main camera, and a 5,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. It is thinner than previous models at 4.1mm when unfolded. The standard Galaxy Z Fold8 adopts a wider, more squarish design to improve pocketability, weighing 201 grams. Both models employ Flex Titanium technology to minimize the display crease. The devices integrate a Galaxy AI suite with features such as Now Brief and Now Nudge.

Early market reception shows strong demand, with Samsung reporting a global pre-order increase of over 30% compared to the previous generation. In Europe, pre-orders for the Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra combined are 70% higher than the Galaxy Z Fold7. While praised for hardware durability and multitasking, critics noted the Fold8 Ultra's wobbly design due to camera housing and a lack of S Pen compatibility.
