Iran Launches 2,000 Strikes Against U.S. Middle East Bases

Under Operation Epic Fury, Iran and its partner forces executed more than 2,000 air, missile, and drone strikes against United States military installations and diplomatic facilities across the Middle East. The offensive targeted bases and assets in Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kuwait, resulting in an estimated $13 billion in equipment losses and facility damage. Among the losses were over 42 destroyed military aircraft.

Three U.S. soldiers were killed at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, where strikes also damaged airfield hangars. The campaign targeted critical command and control infrastructure, including the Combined Air Operations Center in Qatar and the headquarters of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command in Bahrain. Diplomatic targets included the U.S. consulate in Dubai and U.S. embassies in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq.

The scale of the attacks highlighted significant vulnerabilities in U.S. active and passive defense systems. In response to these gaps, the United States Congress has been urged to increase funding for the sustainment, restoration, and modernization of military facilities to improve base protection.
