Amadeus Data Breach Exposes 46,000 Singapore Airlines Bookings
Singapore Airlines reported a data breach at technology provider Amadeus that compromised 46,000 booking records as part of a larger industry-wide incident.
A data breach at airline technology provider Amadeus compromised approximately 46,000 booking records from Singapore Airlines. The incident is part of a larger industry-wide breach at Amadeus that exposed more than 200,000 bookings across multiple global carriers, including Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Malaysia Airlines, and Asiana Airlines.
Exposed data for Singapore Airlines customers includes names, booking reference numbers, travel itineraries, and booking classes. For a smaller subset of 620 records, attackers may have accessed email addresses, phone numbers, travel document details, and KrisFlyer membership numbers. Amadeus confirmed that no bank account or credit card information was leaked and no bookings were modified.
Singapore Airlines stated that the incident was confined to the Amadeus platform and did not involve a breach of its own internal IT systems. As a precaution, the airline is contacting affected customers with upcoming travel to change their booking reference numbers. Amadeus attributed the breach to a software glitch in a travel booking display environment and has since implemented containment measures and additional security safeguards.
