Saudi Arabia's Humain Launches National Arabic AI Model

Humain unveiled humain-m3, a national Arabic-language AI model based on Chinese technology to increase Arabic representation in frontier artificial intelligence.

The Saudi Arabian AI company Humain launched humain-m3, a national Arabic-language AI model designed to increase the representation of the Arabic language in frontier artificial intelligence. The model is based on an open model from the Chinese lab MiniMax Group Inc. and was released via Humain Node, a platform for businesses and developers.

Humain reports that humain-m3 outperformed other frontier models across seven public Arabic benchmarks. CEO Tareq Amin stated that the investment aims to address the fact that Arabic is spoken by hundreds of millions of people yet remains significantly underrepresented in the field.

Backed by the Public Investment Fund, the initiative is part of a broader Saudi Arabian strategy to develop sovereign AI capabilities. The move seeks to ensure the kingdom remains globally competitive as the AI industry continues to be dominated by firms from the United States and China.
