Armenian Leaders Visit Yekaterinburg for EAEU Industrial Council
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan visited Yekaterinburg to advance Eurasian industrial integration and bilateral cooperation with Russia.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan traveled to Yekaterinburg, Russia, on July 6, 2026, for a series of high-level industrial forums. The visit followed a period of uncertainty after Pashinyan's name had been removed from the official list of invited speakers without explanation, sparking questions about a potential cancellation.
Papoyan attended the eighth session of the Industrial Policy Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), stating that the session creates a favorable opportunity for a substantive discussion of the prospects of industrial cooperation and joint projects within the union. He asserted that the council meeting would help develop practical solutions serving all EAEU member states and deepen regional industrial integration. Simultaneously, Pashinyan participated in the Industry 360: Manufacturing Without Borders plenary session at the Innoprom 2026 International Industrial Exhibition.
During a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the exhibition, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin emphasized the necessity of maintaining a comfortable environment for Russian investors in Armenia, as Russia remains the country's top foreign trade partner. Mishustin specifically highlighted Russian activities in the digital economy, energy, mining, and transport infrastructure. He also proposed continuing the tradition of cultural and humanitarian cooperation through youth initiatives and festivals.
The visit underscores ongoing economic and industrial engagement between the two nations despite recent strains in their broader political relationship. Looking ahead to upcoming elections and the formation of a new Armenian government, Mishustin expressed expectation that the future administration will ensure the consistent development of bilateral relations based on friendship and mutual respect.
