Delhi Legislative Assembly Pilots AI Live Translation System

The Delhi Legislative Assembly is testing an AI-powered live transcription and translation system developed by the Digital India BHASHINI Division to improve legislative efficiency.

The Delhi Legislative Assembly has invited the Digital India BHASHINI Division to conduct a pilot trial of an AI-powered live transcription and translation system during House proceedings. This marks the first time the BHASHINI system has been deployed in any legislative House across India.

Speaker Vijender Gupta stated the initiative aims to evaluate how the technology can enhance the efficiency and productivity of legislative management. The system will undergo an evaluation period to review and customize transcription output and performance to meet the Assembly's specific operational requirements before officials decide on a wider deployment.

If the pilot proves successful, the Assembly intends to explore similar AI solutions for its other functional branches. The BHASHINI Division, which operates under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India, serves as the national platform for multilingual digital inclusion.
