Ping An Insurance Net Income Rises 36% to 92.6 Billion Yuan
Ping An Insurance reported a 36% increase in first-half net income driven by a rally in Chinese artificial intelligence stocks.
Ping An Insurance (Group) Co. reported a 36% increase in net income to 92.6 billion yuan ($13.8 billion) for the first half of 2026. The growth was primarily driven by a rally in China's stock market, specifically in artificial intelligence-related stocks, which pushed total investment income up 42% to 136.9 billion yuan.
To stabilize returns, the company expanded its high-dividend equity holdings, increasing the share of assets categorized as other comprehensive income to 66%. Operating profit grew by 8.3%, and new business value within life operations increased by 11.2% during the period ending June 30.
Despite the surge in profits, the company's shares have fallen 14% in Hong Kong this year. Chief Financial Officer Rebecca Fu stated that the current share price is "far from" adequately reflecting the company's real value.
