JD Vance Attacks Abdul El-Sayed Over White Supremacy Remarks
Vice President JD Vance criticized the Democratic Party and Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed for abandoning working-class roots during a speech in Ohio.
Vice President JD Vance criticized the modern Democratic Party and Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed during a Friday speech at the Cleveland-Cliffs Middletown Works steel plant in Ohio. Vance argued that the party has abandoned its working-class roots in favor of graduate students, claiming the current platform is not his grandpa's Democratic Party.
To support his claims, Vance highlighted a 2022 speech El-Sayed delivered at a Council on American-Islamic Relations banquet. In that address, El-Sayed linked efforts to ban Sharia law to a history of white supremacy, citing the Tulsa massacre and the Trail of Tears.
El-Sayed is currently running for the U.S. Senate in Michigan against Republican former Representative Mike Rogers. He has faced previous criticism for describing Israel as an apartheid state and accusing it of genocide. Following his primary victory, El-Sayed stated his commitment to combating antisemitism and ensuring Jewish safety. His campaign did not immediately respond to Vance's remarks.
