The Woodman Old Catton Ltd Enters Liquidation Owing £60,000
The Woodman Old Catton Ltd entered liquidation in September 2026 owing £60,000 to creditors, though its Norwich pub remains open under a new operator.
The Woodman Old Catton Ltd, a company that operated a pub on North Walsham Road in Norwich, entered liquidation on September 30, 2026. The company owes approximately £60,000 to various creditors, including more than £20,000 to HM Revenue and Customs, over £16,000 to Positive Energy Ltd, and £5,500 to the Stonegate Pub Company.
The Woodman Old Catton Ltd cited government taxation policies, high rent, and the cost of tied beer as the primary drivers of its failure. The business had operated the site for roughly 10 months starting in May 2024 under a flexible tenancy at will agreement with Stonegate. A statement of affairs published on Companies House indicates the company has no assets available to satisfy its debts.
Despite the dissolution of the operating company, the pub remains open for business under a new tenancy agreement with an unnamed entity. The liquidated company was controlled by Snug Pubs & Inns Ltd, owned by Stephen Alden and Daniel Pratt, whose own accounts are currently overdue on Companies House. The site recently drew local criticism after the owners installed a self-service launderette in August to increase revenue, sparking neighbor complaints regarding parking, lighting, and noise.
