Netherlands Pledges €1.2 Billion Non-Military Aid to Ukraine

The Government of the Netherlands announced a €1.2 billion non-military assistance package to support Ukraine's energy, water, and reconstruction efforts over the next three years.

The Government of the Netherlands announced a €1.2 billion non-military aid package for Ukraine to be delivered over the next three years. Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Sjoerd Wiemer Sjoerdsma announced the initiative during a visit to Kyiv, detailing funds intended for urgent needs in water supply, recovery, and reconstruction.

The package includes an expedited €40 million for the Ukraine Energy Support Fund to repair infrastructure and €55 million for energy equipment sourced from Dutch companies through the Netherlands Enterprise Agency. To stimulate private sector involvement, the government is allocating €136 million to programs such as the Ukraine Partnership Facility and increasing export credit insurance by €19.5 million.

Sjoerdsma stated that social and economic assistance must continue regardless of battlefield developments to ensure that hospitals and food production remain operational. He emphasized that support for recovery and reconstruction cannot wait for a ceasefire, noting that Ukraine faces intense Russian attacks and a difficult winter.
