The Nigerien Defense and Security Forces killed at least 17 mercenaries during nationwide military operations conducted in the second half of August. According to an army news bulletin broadcast on national television, the campaign also resulted in the arrest of dozens of terrorists and the disruption of mercenary supply networks.
During the operations, military forces intercepted several convoys and seized weapons, military equipment, food, and fuel. Specialized military engineering teams also detected and destroyed 14 improvised explosive devices to protect troops and civilians.
