Bell Canada Launches AI-Powered Spoofed Call Detection Tool

BCE Inc. announced on July 28, 2026, the launch of an artificial intelligence-powered tool designed to protect customers from caller ID spoofing in real time. This technology targets scammers who use Voice over IP to impersonate businesses, personal contacts, or trusted organizations by manipulating caller ID numbers.

The feature is being deployed automatically without requiring customer opt-in to iOS and Android users across Bell, Virgin Plus, Lucky Mobile, PC Mobile, No Name, and Maxi mobile services. When the AI identifies a suspicious call, the device will display warnings such as "Likely fraud" or "Possible spam."

This tool integrates with an existing suspicious call detection system launched in 2025. Bell reports that the previous system has already analyzed 4.4 billion calls and blocked or labeled over 540 million as fraudulent. Bell claims to be the first carrier in Canada to implement this specific AI-driven spoofing detection functionality.
