Sebi Says National Stock Exchange IPO Approval Is Close
Securities and Exchange Board of India Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey announced that regulatory approval for the National Stock Exchange's long-stalled IPO is nearly complete.
Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey announced that regulatory approval for the National Stock Exchange (NSE) initial public offering is close. The listing has been stalled since 2016 due to regulatory concerns, including a co-location controversy.
NSE resolved these hurdles by receiving a No Objection Certificate in January 2026 and completing a settlement payment of Rs 1,491.21 crore to Sebi on July 31. The proposed IPO is an offer-for-sale of up to 148.9 million shares, with an estimated value of approximately Rs 30,000 crore.
The timeline for public comments on the offering was extended to August 31, 2026. This extension followed an addendum to the Draft Red Herring Prospectus that split the State Bank of India's share sale between the bank and SBI Capital Markets.
