India Confirms 14 Nationals Safe After Yemen Yacht Incident
The Indian government confirmed 14 nationals are safe in Hodeidah after their yacht was targeted off the coast of Yemen.
The Embassy of India confirmed that 14 Indian nationals are safe after their yacht was involved in an incident near Yuqar Island in the Red Sea. The Indian mission reported that the individuals are currently located around Hodeidah, Yemen.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree claimed that Saudi forces targeted the vessel and stated that Houthi forces were rescuing the passengers. The Indian embassy has not confirmed the source of the attack and is working with various parties to establish the facts and circumstances of the event.
The incident occurs amid escalated hostilities between Saudi Arabia and Iran-backed Houthi forces. These tensions have already resulted in the death of one Indian national and injuries to three others following attacks on a Saudi airport and oil field on Wednesday.
