Maura Healey Wins Landslide Reelection as Massachusetts Governor

Governor Maura Healey won a second term in Massachusetts, defeating Republican challenger Mike Minogue in a landslide victory.

Governor Maura Healey won reelection to a second term on Tuesday, defeating Republican challenger Mike Minogue in a landslide victory. Decision Desk HQ and the Associated Press called the race shortly after polls closed, with early counts showing Healey at 63 percent and Minogue at 33 percent. Independent candidate Andrea James received less than four percent of the vote.

Healey, the first female governor of Massachusetts and one of the first out lesbian governors in the U.S., has focused her first term on climate resilience, hate crime investigations, and reproductive care access. Following the results, she celebrated with supporters at the Copley Plaza Hotel, stating she was humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve for another four years.

Mike Minogue, a former biotech CEO, conceded the race from his campaign headquarters in Burlington. He called Healey to congratulate her and stated that it was his responsibility to respect the will of the people after the voters made their choice.
