UK Warns Against Non-Essential Travel to Bahrain and Kuwait

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has advised British nationals against all but essential travel to Bahrain and Kuwait. This guidance follows a series of retaliatory strikes by Iran since July 8 targeting U.S. military and civilian infrastructure across the region, including sites in Bahrain.

Safety concerns intensified after the U.S. Embassy in Manama issued an advisory on July 20 warning that Iran might target unspecified locations in central Manama. The UK government cited a risk of unforeseen escalation and further attacks as the basis for its revised travel warnings.

In Kuwait, authorities have placed the country under heightened alert. These measures have resulted in reduced flight schedules at Kuwait International Airport and the closure of Terminal 1. British nationals currently in the region are urged to monitor local media, avoid security facilities, and prepare for potential airspace closures or flight cancellations.
