IEA Releases Emergency Oil Stocks to Lower Global Prices
The International Energy Agency announced the release of over 400 million barrels of emergency crude and diesel, causing oil prices to decline in Asian trade.
Oil prices declined in early Asian trade after the International Energy Agency announced the release of emergency crude oil and diesel fuel stocks. The organization stated that the total volume of oil released by member countries will exceed the 400 million barrels previously agreed upon in March.
Member nations have pledged to accelerate the release of the remaining 100 million barrels, a figure that includes more than 20 million barrels of diesel. This coordinated effort aims to stabilize energy markets by increasing immediate supply.
Following the announcement, front-month WTI crude oil futures dropped 0.6% to $97.41 a barrel, while front-month Brent crude oil futures fell 0.4% to $105.52 a barrel.
