Goldman Sachs Forecasts Japanese Yen Appreciation to 150

Goldman Sachs reversed its bearish outlook on the Japanese yen, forecasting it will appreciate to 150 per dollar over the next 12 months.

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. reversed its bearish outlook on the Japanese yen, forecasting the currency will appreciate to 150 per dollar over the next 12 months. This represents a significant shift from the firm's previous forecast of 165 per dollar.

Strategist Karen Reichgott Fishman also raised shorter-term targets, projecting the yen will reach 158 per dollar within three months and 155 per dollar within six months. The firm attributes this strengthening outlook to an accelerated pace of interest rate hikes by the Bank of Japan.

Goldman Sachs identifies a shift in domestic policy and an increased likelihood of capital repatriation into Japanese assets as the primary drivers for the currency's expected appreciation.
