Republican Candidate Bo French Faces Backlash Over Execution Posts

Republican candidate Bo French is facing significant backlash from within his own party after reports revealed deleted social media posts calling for the public execution of political opponents. In posts dating back to May 2020, French advocated for the death penalty for former President Barack Obama and others involved in the Russia investigation, frequently using the hashtag "#HangEmHigh."

French also expressed a desire for public executions in support of the Department of Government Efficiency. Beyond these calls for violence, he drew criticism for sharing a photo of South Asian students with a caption suggesting a worsening problem. French is currently running for a seat on the Railroad Commission of Texas.

The revelations have led to high-profile defections within the Republican party. Senator John Cornyn stated he will not support French, and Republican strategist Karl Rove announced he will vote for the Democratic candidate, Jon Rosenthal, in the November 3 election.
