Burlington Stores Raises Annual Guidance Amid Strong Q2 Growth

Burlington Stores reported second-quarter revenue of $3 billion and announced it will pass $55 million in tariff refunds to customers through lower prices.

Burlington Stores reported second-quarter net income of $184 million and total revenue of $3 billion, an 11% increase. The retailer exceeded Wall Street estimates for adjusted earnings per share, which reached $2.37, and expanded its physical footprint to 1,287 locations, representing a 13.1% year-over-year increase. However, comparable-store sales growth slowed to 2% from 5% in the previous year.

Despite the quarterly gains, shares fell between 3.5% and 7.6% after the company issued a third-quarter adjusted EPS forecast of $1.60 to $1.70, which missed analyst expectations. To support shoppers, the company announced it will reinvest $55 million in tariff refunds into lower prices during the second half of the fiscal year, allocating 40% to the third quarter and 60% to the fourth.

Chief Executive Michael O'Sullivan stated that the rising cost of living has made life difficult for many customers and that the company plans to use the refunds to make existing deals even better. Looking ahead, Burlington raised its full-year adjusted EPS guidance to a range of $11.77–$11.97 and tightened its annual revenue growth forecast to between 10% and 11%.
