TikTok U.S. Joint Venture Closes Nashville Office

TikTok's U.S. joint venture is closing its Nashville office and laying off 250 content moderation employees to streamline operations.

The TikTok U.S. Joint Venture announced the closure of its Nashville office and the layoff of 250 employees on August 6, 2026. The facility, located in the Music Row neighborhood, primarily housed members of the app's content moderation team. According to labor documents filed with the state of Tennessee, the office will officially close on October 5.

The company stated the decision aims to streamline operations and better align teams for long-term growth. This workforce reduction follows the January 2026 creation of the American joint venture, which was established to comply with a 2024 federal law requiring the separation of the app from its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, to address national security concerns.
