Grindr CEO Reports 2.5x Engineering Boost From Generative AI

Grindr CEO George Arison announced that generative AI increased the company's engineering output by 2.5x between July 2025 and April 2026. Arison stated that achieving this level of technical output without AI would have required hiring approximately 200 additional engineers and incurring an annual cost of $60 million. The company expects to spend $6 million on AI tokens this year.

Arison clarified that these productivity gains are being used to avoid creating new roles rather than cutting existing jobs, citing a scarcity of exceptional engineering talent. He maintains that AI allows the company to focus human creativity on high-value areas.

Some industry experts have criticized the company's method of measuring productivity by the amount of code shipped. Marco Argenti, Chief Information Officer of Goldman Sachs, specifically questioned the validity of using lines of code as a primary metric for AI-driven productivity.
