Germany DAX Index Hits Nine-Week Low Amid Inflation Fears
Germany's DAX index dropped to a near nine-week low on Thursday as rising oil prices and bond yields fueled investor concerns over inflation.
The DAX index fell to a near nine-week low on Thursday, dropping 164.74 points, or 0.65%, to close at 25,034.45. The decline followed a surge in Brent crude futures, which climbed nearly 3% to $100.79 a barrel, and a rise in Germany's 10-year bond yield to 3.650% before it settled at 3.615%.
Investor anxiety centered on inflation and interest rates, driven by geopolitical tensions. While Heidelberg Materials and Infineon Technologies recorded gains, significant losses were reported for Bayer, Deutsche Bank, and Fresenius.
Economic data further pressured the market. S&P Global revised the Germany Manufacturing PMI for September 2026 to 53.9, marking a slowdown from the 54.3 recorded in August.
