Kamala Harris Leads 2028 Polls Amid Midterm Campaign Tour

Kamala Harris leads Democratic polling for 2028 while launching a midterm tour, despite internal party divisions over her viability after the 2024 election.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is the current frontrunner for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination, according to a Voters' Voice Poll by The Center Square. Harris holds 29% support among registered Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents, with particularly strong backing from Black voters (47%) and those aged 18-29 (48%). She leads other potential candidates, including California Governor Gavin Newsom and former Secretary of State Pete Buttigieg.

To maintain visibility, Harris scheduled a final midterm campaign tour from October 21 to October 30. The itinerary includes stops in Nevada, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, and Georgia, as well as a virtual event in Florida. She will support several history-making candidates, such as Nevada gubernatorial nominee Aaron Ford and Mississippi Senate nominee Scott Colom. Notably, the tour visits several early 2028 presidential primary states.

Despite her polling lead, Democratic strategists and donors remain divided over her prospects. Some party insiders argue she has failed to reinvent her platform since her 2024 defeat, and candidates in red states like Iowa, Kansas, and Texas have reportedly requested she avoid their campaigns. While Harris has not ruled out another presidential run, she maintains that her current focus is on the November midterm elections.
