Anthropic Launches Claude Haiku 5.5 with 75 Percent Price Cut
Anthropic released Claude Haiku 5.5, its fastest and most affordable AI model, featuring significant price reductions and specialized tools for high-volume tasks.
Anthropic launched Claude Haiku 5.5 on Wednesday, marking the third addition to its Claude 5.5 model family in a single month following updates to Opus and Sonnet. The new model is the company's fastest and most efficient to date, specifically designed for high-volume, cost-sensitive, and speed-sensitive applications such as live customer support, voice agents, and database queries.
The company reduced the cost of the model by approximately 75 percent compared to Haiku 4.5. For prompts under 100,000 tokens, pricing is now $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens, while larger requests are priced at $0.50 and $2.50 respectively. This release also introduces effort controls for developers to manage token usage and built-in safeguards for high-risk cybersecurity requests.
Beyond the Haiku launch, the company halved the price of cache reads for Claude Sonnet 5.5 and introduced a new monthly API credit for Claude Max and Team subscribers. These expansions to the AI lineup and pricing structure occur as the company prepares for a planned initial public offering.
